Artist Reception with Janelle Washington

Artist Reception with Janelle Washington

This is your chance to meet celebrated paper-cut artist Janelle Washington, the illustrator of the Caldecott Honor-winning "Choosing Brave: How Mamie Till-Mobley and Emmett Till Sparked the Civil Rights Movement." Washington, who also received the Coretta Scott King-John Steptoe New Talent Award for her illustrations, has silhouettes housed at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of African American History and Culture. She will be available to sign copies at this free event, located in the Delores E. Sekel Art Atrium in Cornerstone Hall. Original pieces from "Choosing Brave" and the artist's Washington Cuts collection will be displayed in the atrium Feb. 28 through mid-April.
