Location

 Hello, all!
A friendly reminder that we are painting the Apple Blossom Parade Route this Sunday 4/27 (depending on weather.) Here is a quick overview of our plan of action:

  • The parade route uses a large Double Flower stencil only.
  • This is the Sunday of Wine Fest. We want the parade route to be as fresh as possible, though we acknowledge this date may deter volunteers. We begin by gathering on Handley Blvd at 9am EST to step-off no later than 9:15am.
    • Please look for the orange, neon vests. If you are driving along with your personal vehicle, please line up behind the truck and trailer. If you are planning to walk/ride in the trailer then please park accordingly.
    • Before stepping off, we will review all of the pertinent information needed for participants. Then, we will break into teams and assign duties. More below.
  • The Festival office communicates with the City of our plans. We follow the parade route. Our goal is to move as quickly and safely as possible in an effort to impact traffic patterns as little as possible.
    • Neon safety vests will be provided and are required.
    • Participants must be age 11 or older. Anyone under the age of 18 must remain with their guardian at all times as safety protocol indicates.
  •  If we are approached while painting the route with someone asking for their driveway to be painted:
    • The resident is required to register and pay the $100 donation via the link first. See your team lead for the direct link if needed.
    • Single Flower stencil on driveways. Double Flower is for the parade route only.
  • We need 20 volunteers. We plan to split into teams of 10, but will reevaluate the morning of.
    • (2) Team Leads - Ericka & Reg/Gretchen/Judy
    • (2) Drivers of Truck/Trailer
    • (2-4) Lift trays of paint in/out of trailer - it's imperative that we do not spill or use too much paint on the rollers so that paint doesn't drip from the stencils. Individuals that take on this role will be responsible for the trays of paint (Lifting them out of the trailer at a stop, replacing them into trailer as we travel to next stop, making sure nothing is spilled/overflows, refills from paint cans as needed)
    • (2+ person/stencil) lift, place, lift stencil - the stencils are large! We must carefully place them for quality assurance. We lift, evenly, in an upward motion to prevent smearing of the wet paint. Individuals that take on this role will be responsible for carrying the stencils from the trailer, aligning them over top of last year's bloom, hold them in place while painters apply paint, carefully remove the stencil and carry it back to the trailer without bending it.
    • (2+) Green paint roller - We'll need at least two people with a green paint roller on each team. These individuals will work closely with the green paint tray volunteer and apply green paint to the leaf portions of the stencil.
    • (2+) Pink paint roller - We'll need at least two people with a pink paint roller on each team. These individuals will work closely with the pink paint tray volunteer and apply pink paint to the blossom petal portions of the stencil.
    • (2+) Cone placement and traffic control while others work on stencil/paint/tray - We'll need at least two people each team to lift cones from trailer, place them around the worksite, provide traffic control so that our teams may work safely, and replace the cones in the trailer as we move to the next stop.
Thank you again for volunteering to paint our beloved town pink and green!
