Job Summary:
The Building Attendant/Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and general upkeep of the facility. Duties include cleaning floors, restrooms, and common areas; emptying trash; restocking supplies; and performing minor repairs as needed. This position may also receive training to support the Scope of Work for all NW Works’ government and commercial custodial contracts, providing coverage as necessary.
 
Essential Functions:
1.       Cleaning: Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors, dust surfaces, and clean windows and mirrors. Must be able to adhere to a schedule to ensure all tasks are completed within allotted time.
2.       Restroom Maintenance: Clean and sanitize restrooms, restock supplies (toilet paper, soap, etc.), and ensure they are well-maintained. 
3.       Trash and Recycling: Empty trash and recycling bins, ensure proper disposal, and manage recycling programs. 
4.       Basic Maintenance: Perform minor repairs, such as changing light bulbs or unclogging toilets. 
5.       Safety and Security: Ensure doors are locked after hours, report safety hazards or maintenance issues, and maintain a clean and safe environment. 
6.       Supplies and Equipment: Manage cleaning supplies, use and maintain equipment, and ensure proper storage. 
7.       Additional Tasks: May include setting up meeting rooms, cleaning spills, or providing basic assistance to employees or visitors. 
8.       Inspections: May include monthly facility, machinery and safety inspections, accurate documentation and record keeping.
Other Duties:
·       Must arrive at work on time and prepared to fulfill all work duties.
·       Must be willing to accept and perform other duties including but not limited to providing coverage for or assisting with commercial contracts, providing coverage for government contracts, and providing supports to clients.
·       Work in collaboration with Facility Manager to create, implement and oversee daily, weekly, and monthly custodial schedule of work.
·       Operate equipment including, but not limited to floor scrubbers, vacuum, buffer, and electrostatic sprayer.
·       Provide and maintain the highest level of customer service. Ensure work is completed to the customers standards, on time, and on budget.
·       Maintain accurate time records and related documentation: must submit all paperwork by established deadlines.
·       Establish and maintain excellent customer service relations with vendors, business contacts, and community partners.
·       Establish and maintain respectful professional relationships with coworkers, management, and board of directors.
·       Adheres to NW Works mission and values consistently.
·       Understands and follows all NW Works policies and procedures.

Limit of Financial Authority and Decision Making:
No financial authority is needed for the position
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
·       Physical Stamina: Often work on their feet, bending, and lifting, so good physical health and stamina are important. 
·       Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail is necessary to identify and address cleanliness issues. Ability to meet deadlines.
·       Organization: Keeping cleaning supplies organized and managing inventory is essential. 
·       Communication: The ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers is important. 
·       Knowledge of Cleaning Products and Equipment: Experience with various cleaning products and equipment is beneficial. Basic knowledge of OSHA standards (Hazardous Communication).
·       Safety Awareness: Understanding safety procedures and guidelines for using cleaning chemicals is crucial. 
·       Flexibility: The ability to be flexible when necessary if there are emergent facility issues or sporadic coverage in the community setting at an alternate site.
·       Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED Preferred.  Preferred candidates will have 6 months of previous custodial/facilities work experience.
·       Transportation: The ability to reliably transport self to location with regularity and timeliness.  Preferred if candidate has a valid driver’s license.
